20th of July 2015
Today was my first school day. But in the progress of this post you'll see that this was no actual school day. We (the new students) met at 9 o'clock in the school from we were brought to the town hall of Oxford by the principal Peter. We were told to take a multiple choise test for 1 hour and had a little Interview in a group of two people so that they could assess our results later on to put us in the right classes. After that we had a short break, which I spent with a Swiss girl and we went through the town. We bought something to drink at M&S and went back to the town hall where we Peter gave us an introduction to the school and Oxford. Then, we had a second break for ca. 3 hours, because the office had to check our answers. During this whole time I had a delicious sandwich in a café and walked further through Oxford with the girl. I really love Oxford's cute side roads that are not busy at all. There you cana find the sweetest houses coulourd in beautiful pastel colors and green plants added to the front gates. You can find even more of theses shortly before you enter the city center, which are my absolut favorite so far!! I am sure I will see even more beautiful houses. On the one hand, you have the nice and calm areas of Oxford city center, but on the other hand, which defenetly overweights, there are so many tourists here too. We also went in a few shops like Topshop. What really suprised me, is that I have the feeling that there are more eating possibilities than shopping places. We also went through the Covered Market where we saw a life backery making insane cakes! I bought a bus ticket for my 4 week stay and then we went back to school to get our results. My classes start each day at 9:30 and each class are 75 minutes long. In total, I have 4 everyday and my lessons end at 10 past 4 pm. In between I have two small and one big break. The first three classes are on the level C1 and for the last lesson, they chose "Fluency" for me. I am very happy with this result. Then I went back to M&S to buy something to drink for the next day (nobody drinks parkling water here!) and a wrap.
